Shoot Like Apes

The video shoot for Fight Like Apes single ‘Something Global’ took place in Whelan’s on Wexford street yesterday. Over 100 people with all sorts of cameras from professional to phones recorded them performing the song live for it to be spliced together and beat the record for most recorded performance. Also featured in the video was a giant portrait of Tom Selleck, a giant golden phone, wedding confetti and kabuki masked people in suits! The day started at 9am where there crew all got together and we we’re told our various jobs and what we should be doing at different stages. At around 10.30am the queue began to build up outside and everyone was let in about an hour later after the band had soundchecked. The Apes played a warm up set to the crowd and then launched into the video shoot, which took about  5 takes due to a couple of hiccups with sound and props. The shoot wrapped at about 1.30pm and the crew had the grueling task of uploading all the crowd footage to laptops set up in the front bar, while the band signed merch for fans. It was a fun day and looking forward to seeing the end result, I’ve no doubt in my mind that it will be amazing.
